You, Me, and Agnosticism

[after rozenesia accidentally creates a fool previous entry]

Reverend Phillip Shooter:
“Stop! Stop this please! Let us stop this mindless violence! Nicholas my son, you may not be a man of God, but surely you are a man of peace?”

Sergeant Nicholas Angel:
“I may not be a man of god reverend, but I know right, and I know wrong, and I have the good grace to know which is which.”

Haven’t clear yet? Okay, let me show you the scenes.

Hott Fuzz

By the way, at NWA meeting Reverend Phillip Shooter just recognized (Sergeant Nicholas Angel is being introduced to the NWA for the first time and expresses his religious convictions to Reverend Phillip Shooter) Sergeant Nicholas Angel as an agnostic, not an atheist. So am I.

Don’t ask about religion, please. I wonder why my friends from the class of International Relations department don’t know about agnosticism and the concept after all. For sure, maybe I’ll get black-and-white judgment. Guess why? :P

“I put no stock in religion. By the word religion I have seen the lunacy of fanatics of every denomination be called the will of God. I’ve seen too much religion in the eyes of murders. Holiness is in right action, and courage on behalf of those who cannot defend themselves, and goodness. What God desires is here–in head–and here–in heart–and what you decide to do every day will make you a good man…or not.”
Hospitaller of Jerusalem — Kingdom of Heaven

Uh-oh, it answers the question. This is my art of believing, eh? ;)

yes maybe you're not the only one... honstly... I'm a litle bit agnostic... but can you just open your eyes...??? can't you see that people at our ages know nothing about agnosticsm... thei have something important thing to think than agnosticsm.... in this age.. much people thinks that religion is a God wishes... we just do it... not think why we must do it... because it's a God wish...

In Stages of Faith (by James Fowler) we're in 3rd stage, arising in adolescence, called Synthetic-conventional faith. It is a stage characterized by conformity, where one finds one's identity by aligning oneself with a certain perspective, and lives directly through this perception with little opportunity to reflect on it critically.
But not all of teens are in 3rd stage. A few of them are in 4th stage, called Individualistic-reflective faith. A stage of angst and struggle, in which one must face difficult questions regarding identity and belief. So am I. ;)

rrrr.... that you said that you was one step higher than any boys...??? then, why you keep pursuing other boys to know what agnosticsm is... comon bro... everything has their own time... they'll know what agnosticsm is... but it's not now... In stages of faith (by James Fowler) we should at the 3rd stage... thay find their identity at this stage... and that isn't agnosticsm but consumerism.... don't blame other boys just because you're one step higher than them....

@ Celo =3: Nope. This is not step, this is stage. :D
There's no higher or lower. Because this is like a cycles. As the result of an research, 50% of adults stuck at this stage and become believers, 'till the end of their time.
Those that pass 4th stage usually do so (angst and struggle) in their mid-thirties to early forties.

I think, there's so many important thing to think than think about agnosticsm.... pay the electricity bill may be ;)

    Can you confirm my understanding.

Agnosticism followers suggest there is no strong evidence that God exists though they do not completely reject the existence of God. So you just postpone your decission, right? On the other hand, you deem that the possiblity of God's existence is so little. Thus, His existence is not meaningful enough to be counted on as considerations. It means, you throw out God as the atheism followers do. Am I right?
